Cynthia interned in the claims division of a Nationwide Agency in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. This internship lasted for three weeks before her supervisor suffered a personal emergency and with no one to replace her, the internship was cut short. During her time there, Cynthia began by meeting the key personnel in the office, then helped claims service representatives organize data into different categories and folders for each adjuster. Finally she organized the documents, and electronically input the data in order to develop weekly reports. She felt her RMI classes and previous experience working at a Nationwide agency prepared her very well for this internship.
Cynthia already worked for Nationwide and because of her work experience her boss recommended her for the internship to experience claims handling. The part-time internship was not paid and the work was stressful at times, but the atmosphere was pleasant so she regretted that her time there was so short. Since Nationwide does not have a structured internship program established at their Conshohocken location, she would not recommend it to other students.
