Dylan worked at McConkey Insurance Company this summer in his home town of York, Pennsylvania. Each week, he visited different departments in the company and was able to observe the contribution each one makes to the company as a whole. He attended internal meetings and had hands-on experience at new client meetings and proposals. He also had a long-term project to create an educational binder to be handed out at job fairs to teach interested personnel about the opportunities at McConkey. His risk management classes prepared him for the internship to the extent that he impressed his mentor and co-workers with his knowledge of the insurance industry.
Dylan found the interview process to be very organized and professional. He attended a lot of lunches and happy hours with co-workers and clients. The professional atmosphere at McConkey impressed Dylan because everyone truly wanted him to succeed and learn as much about the industry as he could. Although at times filing papers became boring, but the internship was exactly what he expected. He would absolutely recommend this company to other students.
