Kevin interned at Lockton Companies, an insurance broker in Kansas City, Missouri. He adjusted to the city very easily because of his great coworkers and the other interns. Kevin would analyze loss runs and compile the data into spreadsheets. He also would check binders to assure that every policy form was included before it was sent to the customer. He was assigned a special project to analyze loss runs for one particular enterprise and make a small presentation to his unit about his findings and the problems he perceived with the account. Kevin had a young employee who helped to show him the ropes of the business. He also felt his risk management classes gave him basic knowledge about topics they use everyday.
Kevin had a clear idea of the internship after the interview process. For supplemental benefits, housing was provided and he had the opportunity to attend at Kansas City Royals game, as well as a picnic at the COO’s house. His favorite part of the internship was the other interns, and he still talks to them now. Kevin found that a lot of the other interns disliked their apartments, but he was glad that they were walking distance from the office. He recommends this company to other students.
