Risk Management and Insurance Major
Provide a general description of the work at your internship.
Helped client teams and insurance providers with enrollments and eligibility. Also helped the benefit team with audits and benchmarking projects.
Did you have a mentor?
Yes
If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
Several employees helped me during my internship. They just showed me basically how to do everything that they do on a daily basis.
Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Yes
Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
I had a phone screening and two in-person interviews at the office.
Were you assigned any special projects?
Typically not special projects, but I was given smaller projects like designing benefit guides and several different reporting projects.
What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay?
Innovative has a bunch of supplemental benefits. I have had free lunches probably once per week. We were recently offered yoga classes after the work day.
Describe the company's internship program.
The internship is comprehensive and ran me through many different activities pretty quickly. The work environment is very laid back and every employee is willing to help one another. The work load depends on the day; sometimes I was busy from 9-5, sometimes I had a lot of down time to work on other things. There is a good mix of younger and older employees, but Innovative is starting to build up the amount of young Temple students it has.
Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?
Yes
Were you provided time off besides the weekend?
I work during the semester so I am off Tuesdays and Thursday for my classes, but they are extremely flexible and offer unlimited PTO to employees who have work there for over a year.
