Thomas Flynn
Actuarial Science
ACE USA
Wilmington, DE

Thomas commuted to Delaware from Philadelphia and his basic job was to take old data from years past and help in the construction of a database. He worked with ACE Actuary Matt Lange, as well as ACE VP Jim Adams, to find which companies had purchased a product known as Excess of Aggregate. He worked with three other interns and who were divided up by individual branches. His branches were the Philadelphia and Chicago offices. He felt his RMI/AS classes helped him understand just what the insurance company was asking them to do. He went through many phone interviews and a face to face interview and felt extremely confident throughout the process.

He was charged with a project to resolve an issue with a client that was charging his place of work with litigation and he had to try and retrieve data that was missing in order to help the company’s defense. He was given several paid lunches and two happy hours over the course of the internship. He felt the atmosphere and workload couldn’t have been better, and he felt his managers were awesome and extremely generous. He recommends this internship to any who is interested in the field.
