Juliette experienced interning for two different companies in the Delaware Valley region by earning the Risk and Insurance Management Society Internship. She spent half of her time working at Aramark, a food distribution and facilities management company, and the other half with SAP, a software solutions company. Her daily activities for both companies included extensive use of Excel, loss control visits, policy renewals, and writing executive summaries. She was also assigned a special project on policy renewals for workers’ compensation. Juliette feels that her risk management classes helped create a strong background of insurance knowledge which allowed her to understand what she is doing.
Juliette had a clear idea of the internship after the interview process and has found that extensive research and knowledge of the company helped her confidence when interviewing. She enjoyed the friendly, helpful atmosphere and that she could give her executive summaries directly to the CEO. However she does wish she knew Excel more extensively before beginning because she learned much of it on her own, and also she wishes her time with each company could have been longer. Juliette strongly recommends the RIMS internship to other students.
