Provide a general description of the work at your internship.
I worked in teams with all of the members of the health department, but mostly through my mentor. I performed data prep and manipulation, IBNR work, intern project, and gained experience using ProVal and Excel.
Did you have a mentor?
Yes
If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
Most of my work went through my mentor, but he was there for moral and technical support.
Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
They prepared me for a lot of the background knowledge for what I was doing, but for the work itself not necessarily. Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
I had an interview at the Career reception, then a phone interview, and finally an office interview.
Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
There was a group intern project and the one principal gave me a research project regarding domestic partnerships. What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay?
Lunches, housing stipend, baseball game, bowling, many happy hours, party at my mentor's house, bar crawl, and dinner on a boat around NYC.
Describe the company's internship program
The workload varied much of the time. It was a very fun and friendly atmosphere in which I made lots of friends. There was many outside of work activities.
Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?
It was much better than I expected since I was able to make real friendships with the people who work there.

Provide a general description of the work at your internship.
I was placed on different client teams and had different responsibilities for each. I believe I was on 7 client teams of different sizes. Some just had small projects, such as weekly payroll, while others had more time consuming projects in ProVal. I did a lot of work in excel, ProVal, and a little bit of Access. Some examples of specific responsibilities were running payroll, experience studies, creating valuations in ProVal, and doing government filings.
Did you have a mentor?
Yes
If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
We met weekly or bi-weekly depending on availability to discuss different aspects of the internship, how I liked it, if I needed any help, etc. Halfway through the summer and at the end of the internship he collected feedback to give me from my teams. He was always available for any questions or help I needed throughout the internship.
Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Not necessarily, since a good deal of the work I did was in computer programs.
Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
Phone interview, then one in person interview in Secaucus. That interview was about a half day, and I met with 3 different groups of people. After each interview, I got feedback from the recruiter very quickly.
Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
All the interns across the health and wealth departments in the Secaucus and NYC offices were placed onto teams to do an intern project. We had to work together throughout the summer to create an employee benefit solution based on the prompt, which we presented at the end of the summer to a large group of people from both offices.
What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay?
Bi-weekly lunches with associates, coffee chats, housing stipend, happy hours, baseball game
Describe the company's internship program.
The office has a great atmosphere. Everyone was very excited to meet and work with us. I was on a few of the busier client teams, so I had a pretty heavy work load at times but never anything I couldn't handle. Everyone also knows generally how much work we had/what teams we were on, so is very receptive and helpful if needed. There were plenty of outside activities geared toward having us meet with different people from the office. For housing, I was given a stipend but had to find it for myself.
Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?
Yes
Were you provided time off besides the weekend?
We got July 4 off, otherwise they were very flexible if anybody needed extra time for any reason
