- Analyzed current and prospective clients to support BF Saul's book of business
Did you have a mentor? Yes
If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
Our mentors helped guide us with the day to day process of being broker. If we had any areas of interest, they helped deepen our understanding of it.
Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Yes - we are well versed when it came to speaking with carriers, clients, and other professionals.
Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
Typical hiring process - you also have the option to visit the office prior to the summer (around finals)
Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
Small projects throughout the summer (prospecting, evaluating current book, etc) but there is one final project that is presented to senior leadership and HR.
What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay?
Free Lunches (about 3x a week), Happy Hours, Office socials, Lunch and Learns, Career Workshops
Describe the company's internship program.
- The company itself has a very professional culture (suit & tie everyday) but the insurance division was very laid back.
- You have the freedom to explore anything that interests you. The work load is dependent on how much you feel comfortable doing.
- BF Saul does an awesome job making you feel valued. They provide plenty of opportunities to professional develop, network, have fun, and explore.
Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?
Relatively - Our internship wasn't planned for us to push paper. The goal was for us to shadow and learn from attending as many meetings as possible (proposals, renewals, etc).
Were you provided time off besides the weekend?
Yes - some days around 4th of July
