I worked with various managers and colleagues in Casualty Advisory (client-facing) to assist and advise our largest clients in their risk needs. Duties included: preparing Renewal Strategy Meeting documents, performing industry benchmarks on Marsh's proprietary portal, and analyzing policies and binders to identify discrepancies before they are finalized.

We had regular interactions, he introduced me to many people in the office, and he was always open to questions.
Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Yes

First round video interview is a little bit awkward, but keep in mind that everyone faces that same awkwardness.
Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
Yes. There was an Individual Risk Analysis of a company assigned by managers, as well as a group project in which we were grouped with other TRACs from all across the country.
What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay?
Lunches, Happy Hours, Weekly Softball Games, Networking Events
Describe the company's internship program.
Atmosphere was very open for collaboration, and there is a huge emphasis placed on exposing interns to top management.

During my internship I had numerous projects. Examples of some of my projects include: developing renewal strategy documents for client meetings, analyzing Loss Projection Models and Workers Compensation Performance Assessments, reviewing quotes, binders, and policies, and creating schedules of insurance.

If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
I had two mentors during my internship. They helped me navigate the culture of the company and were there to answer any questions that I had.
Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Yes, however, the majority of my learning was done on the job.
Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
I had a short in-person interview on campus, followed by a Hirevue recorded interview, and then an on-site interview. Were you assigned any special projects?
In addition to the aforementioned projects, I was also assigned an individual general risk analysis of a company. Also, we had a group assignment that analyzed the risks of a company in regards to their participation in a specific event.
What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay?
Internship Lunches & Happy Hours.

Marsh has a very structured internship program. In addition to our daily projects, we also had meetings 3-4 times a week where TRAC Associates from several offices taught us more about Marsh, the different departments, and insurance topics. Everyone at the company was very friendly and happy to help with any questions that I had. There were also several outside work activities planned for networking.

As an intern I assisted the brokers to collect and review quotes, binders, and policies. I also had the opportunity to attend client meetings and shadow my colleagues in their daily operations. We had speakers and lectures about 2-3 per week which were very insightful and interesting. In addition, there was an individual presentation and a group presentation with the other interns.

If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
My mentor helped me with any questions I had and helped me adjust to the company. She encouraged me to meet with people in the organization and gave me advice on my individual projects.
Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Yes.

The process included an online application, hirevue, and in-person interview in New York. I also spoke to Marsh at the internship reception which I think was very beneficial for my recruitment.
Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
Yes, throughout the summer I had a project to update the contact list for all the carriers in my field of insurance (FINPRO). In addition, there was an individual project and a group project with presentations in front of management and HR.
What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay?
There was an intern event where we did Escape the Room followed by a happy hour. In addition, I was taken to a variety of lunches and happy hours throughout the summer. Lastly, we had a volunteer day out of the office where we helped set up classrooms in a local Brooklyn school.
Describe the company's internship program.
This was a fantastic internship with strong guidance and organization. The company is very interested in young talent and invests a lot of time into the internship program. The employees were very excited to have an intern and were supportive of interns.
Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?
Yes.

There was not time off except for July 4th.
