Provide a general description of the work at your internship.
I am in charge of properly documenting bodily injury and property damage claims that are submitted to the risk management department and assigning the claims to an adjuster in the department. I use Risk Master, a software used in the claims department, to update information on all the claims and communicate with the adjusters anything they need help with. I also speak to claimants on the phone and assist them in the process of their claim. Did you have a mentor?

Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
I took RMI 3504 during my internship, which helped me better understand some of the language that is used in my department.
Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
The entire process took about a month.
Were you assigned any special projects?
During the summer, my boss took me along with her to visit all the gas plants around Philadelphia during a visit from Marsh. That was the most interesting day during my internship, because I was able to meet our broker at Marsh and learn more about the insurance side.
What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay?
PGW provides free parking for students, which is the best benefit because it's 24 hours right next to Temple. Describe the company's internship program.
I was the only intern during my time at PGW. However, all the adjusters and other employees made me feel at home! The work load is manageable, but there is always something that could be done. I never felt overloaded with work, because they understand that interns are still in school.
Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?
I was nervous starting my internship, but I am so blessed with the internship I have.
Were you provided time off besides the weekend?
My boss is accommodating with time off. I was able to take off a week in the summer for a vacation, and certain days during the school year to study for school.
