Grace Joy
Risk Management & Insurance
Coast to Coast Insurance Brokers
Radnor, PA

Grace interned at Coast to Coast Insurance Brokers this past summer. Her tasks included those of a broker’s. Sending out renewal applications, accepting bids from providers and communicating with various underwriters were daily tasks that needed to be performed. Coast to Coast worked exclusively with A rated carriers which included Lloyds of London, Philadelphia Insurance Company and Scottsdale to name a few. Grace also sent out quotes, provided information on premium financing, and obtained the loss runs on clients looking for new coverage. Shannon Tornoe has a strong insurance background from working at Marsh and she was Grace’s mentor. Shannon taught Grace many things about the industry.

Grace felt like her RMI 3505 (Upper Property and Casualty) course helped familiarize her with the industry. However, the fast paced environment and the high demands of clients kept Grace on her feet. The things that are learned in the field are different than the things learned in class and Grace says that this internship was the “ultimate experience.” Grace definitely recommends this company to other students and says that there is no substitute for hard work.
