Peter L. Miller, CPCU

President and Chief Executive Officer

The Institutes

Peter L. Miller is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Institutes and is a member of The Institutes’ Executive Council. Mr. Miller leads the Board of Directors of the CPCU Society and the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation as a result of the affiliation of these organizations with The Institutes in 2012. Miller also serves ex-officio as a member of The Institutes’ Board of Trustees.

Before he was named president and CEO in July 2006, Miller served as the interim and Acting President and CEO, with full management responsibility of The Institutes. Previously, he was Executive Vice President, with responsibility for the business operations of The Institutes.

Before joining The Institutes in 1992, Miller worked as a computer consultant and as a project coordinator for Intracorp, a subsidiary of Cigna Corporation.

Miller is a graduate of Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a minor in economics, and a master’s degree in systems management. He also holds an MBA from Villanova University and has done extensive PhD-level work in computer information systems.

Miller holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from The Institutes. He serves as a member of the board of the Insurance Institute of Switzerland, Gamma Iota Sigma, and Chairman of the Institute for Global Insurance Education. He is a member of the University of Farmers Board of Regents and also a member of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIAB) InVEST Board of Trustees and serves on their internship committee.
